Effective Date: August 1, 2026 | Version 1.0

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Digital Health Literacy Self-Assessment Tool (DHL-SAT) at dhl.innovatehealth.africa, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the platform. These Terms of Use constitute a binding agreement between you and Innovate Health Africa (IHA), a healthcare innovation organisation registered in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

IHA reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use at any time. Amendments will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the platform following the publication of any amendment constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Nature and Purpose of the Tool

The DHL-SAT is a self-assessment instrument designed to support the professional development of healthcare workers by providing an evidence-based profile of their digital health literacy competencies. It is intended for informational and professional development purposes only.

The DHL-SAT is not a clinical diagnostic tool. It does not assess clinical competency in the practice of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or any other regulated health profession. Results generated by the platform do not constitute a clinical opinion, a professional qualification, a regulatory assessment, or a determination of fitness to practise. Users should not rely on DHL-SAT results for any purpose beyond personal professional development planning.

3. Eligibility

The DHL-SAT is designed for use by healthcare professionals, healthcare students, and individuals working within health systems. Use of the platform is open to any person who meets this description and who provides accurate registration information. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is truthful, accurate, and complete.

4. Automated Outputs and AI-Generated Recommendations

Upon completion of the assessment, the DHL-SAT platform generates an individualised competency profile and a set of learning recommendations. A component of these recommendations is produced through an AI-powered recommendation engine developed and maintained by IHA.

You acknowledge and agree to the following:

All outputs generated by the DHL-SAT platform — including domain scores, proficiency tier classifications, and AI-generated learning recommendations — are informational in nature and do not constitute professional advice. They are intended to guide personal reflection and professional development planning, not to direct clinical practice or institutional decision-making.

AI-generated recommendations are produced on the basis of patterns identified in your assessment responses. They do not account for your full professional background, institutional context, clinical caseload, or individual learning history. IHA does not warrant that any recommendation produced by the platform is appropriate, sufficient, or complete for your specific circumstances.

You retain full discretion over whether to act upon any output produced by the platform. No output produced by the DHL-SAT constitutes a requirement, a directive, or a binding recommendation. IHA accepts no liability for any decision made on the basis of platform outputs.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the DHL-SAT platform — including but not limited to the assessment instrument, item content, scoring framework, domain architecture, report design, and associated documentation — is the intellectual property of Innovate Health Africa. Nothing in these Terms of Use transfers any intellectual property rights to the user.

Users may download their individual Digital Health Literacy Profile Report for personal professional use. Users may not reproduce, distribute, modify, adapt, or commercially exploit any part of the platform or its outputs without the prior written authorisation of IHA.

6. Prohibited Conduct

Users must not:

  • Provide false or misleading registration information
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform
  • Use the platform for any commercial purpose without IHA's written consent
  • Interfere with or disrupt the platform's technical infrastructure
  • Attempt to access data belonging to other users
  • Use the platform in any manner that violates applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019

7. Availability and Technical Issues

IHA will endeavour to maintain the availability of the DHL-SAT platform but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical failures, or circumstances beyond IHA's control. IHA is not liable for any loss arising from unavailability of the platform.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IHA shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the DHL-SAT platform or its outputs. This includes but is not limited to any reliance placed on AI-generated recommendations, any professional or institutional decisions made on the basis of assessment results, or any technical errors affecting the accuracy of results.

9. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms of Use shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria. Users accessing the platform from outside Nigeria acknowledge that their use remains subject to Nigerian law.
